DEAD POETS SOCIETY
O Captain, My Captain
The movie revolves around parental pressure, friendship, but mostly it deals with the concept of carpe diem, which is such a washed-out idea nowadays because I only started to appreciate that phrase now
I love the dark academia aesthetic, this movie gives. I loved the visual effect, sound, and location, acting, just perfect. I cried for at least ½ an hour as this movie moves you, in ways, you would never know.
This movie has given me a part of myself that I didn’t knew I was missing
Dead Poets Society is a movie about a group of 5 boys, from different backgrounds who are studying in this strict disciplinarian all-boys boarding school, the school uses primitive methods of teaching but that’s obvious as the movie was released in the 1990s. Their new English professor, Mr. Keatings introduces them to carpe diem and believed that we should LIVE our lives. Neil, one of the main characters finds his passion in acting but his father didn’t approve of this and later he commits suicide. The school and Neil’s father blames this all on Mr. Keatings and so he is made to resign. The rest of the boys give their ex-English professor a tribute and the movie ends.
Neil did not have to die. In my opinion, Neil’s father wanted him to stand for what he wants. There’s a glimpse of that when he waits and asks if he, Neil, has something to say. He leaves kinda disappointed but in all the movie is a must-watch.
The movie punches you, in the guts like it should I mean.
DPS blew me away. I never thought about literature like this before. Truly incredible and inspiring in so many ways.
In a world so lost in bits of paper and machines, computers, this movie brings us back to our nature
Also, can we please talk about how BEAUTIFUL Ethan Hawke was back in his days??? Like damn
