A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS : AN UNFORGETTABLE TALE.

One could not count the moon that shimmer on her roofs
Or the thousand splendid suns that hide behind her walls.
Why is it that when the story ends we begin to feel it?
There are moments when a book becomes a part of yourself and then you become a part of the story.
One such moment for me, was when I started reading A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS by Khaled Hosseini. I recently finished reading the 367 pages of Hosseini's triumph.
I've laid on the floor, poured my heart out with Laila and Mariam. I've laughed with them when Aziza  burped. I blushed when Tariq flirted with Laila. With them I've experienced what true love is. With Hakim I've woven dreams for Laila. I mourned with Fariba. With Mariam I've felt helpless everytime Rasheed grabbed her. With Laila, I've believed that all of the hardships a person has to face none is more punishing than the simple act of waiting :)
With Tariq I've trusted and loved every bit of Laila. I wowed at Mariam's courage and then weaped because of the injustice to her. With their eyes I've seen Afghanistan and how from a beautiful land it became nothing. I understood how a nation can be destroyed because of world politics. From a blooming country to a dried land, afghanistan and it's people have been crushed due to the two super power nations.
Khaled Hosseini has the purest soul on this planet and is a natural storyteller for sure.
I believe that 'peeing is like reading a good book, and that is very very hard once you start' (:Paper towns). I've read A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS twice till now and it is a book that makes you cry, makes you laugh, makes you feel pain but most importantly makes you understand about sisterhood and the crazy love we as women share. It taught me lessons and how important it is to be brave, and how magical it is to be in LOVE.
Thanks Khaled, for writing such a masterpiece. It is a must read, indeed only the hardest of hearts could fail to be moved.
(Tariq and Laila, you guys set the goals high for me <3)

  8. Your expression makes to feel every word...continue with it. Summarising your felt emotions in few words is something i liked. A bit of factual presentation of the situation in which Afghanistan finds itself in made me to connect and feel the intensity this piece of work must be having. 👩👍
